Assistant professor Jelena Dumančić, DMD, MSc, PhD. – President of the Organizing Board

Dr. Jelena Dumančić is an assistant professor at the Department of Dental Anthropology, School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb, where she has been working for 20 years. She graduated and received DMD title in 1995. In 2000, she received MSc with thesis “Gonadal Dysgenesis and Dental Traits” and PhD in 2005 based on a thesis entitled “Characteristics of the Craniofacial Complex in Turner Syndrome”. All three degrees were earned at the Zagreb University School of Dental Medicine. Her main areas of research and teaching are dental anthropology, orofacial genetics, oral health, forensic dentistry and the history of dentistry. She was a member of the Organising and Scientific Committees for the 16th ISDM and 1st IAPO in Zagreb in 2014. She specialized in Family Dentistry and is actively engaged in oral health promotion. In 2014, she started the preventive program “Project for Oral Health Promotion in Blind and Visually Impaired Individuals,” with financial support from the Zagreb City Office for Health and University of Zagreb. She was awarded a CED IADR Travel Stipend in 2006, Erasmus+ Staff Training Grant in 2014 and poster prizes at the 13th ISDM in Lodz in 2005 and the 16th ISDM and 1st IAPO in Zagreb in 2014. She is a member of several Croatian and international organizations, including the Croatian Association of Forensic Stomatologists, lnternational Organization for Forensic Odonto-Stomatology (IOFOS) and International Association for Dental Research (IADR). She is married and the mother of three children.

Professor Hrvoje Brkić, DMD, MSc, PhD
Dean of the School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb, Croatia
Hrvoje Brkić was born on August 12th 1963 in Zagreb. In 1988 he graduated from the School of Dental Medicine University of Zagreb. Ever since December 1988 he has been working at the Department of Dental Anthropology. He has been teaching dental morphology and courses in forensic dentistry in the graduate and postgraduate studies. Until today he has been managing several Croatian scientific projects as well as two international projects financed by the EU. Since 2003 he has been the vice dean of the School of Dental Medicine, and from 2012 he has been the Dean. Hrvoje Brkić has actively participated at numerous international conferences and published more than 100 scientific and professional publications, books, and book chapters. He is vice-president of the International Organization of Forensic Odontostomatology (IOFOS). He is a member of several international editorial boards and since 2006 he has been the editor-in-chief of the journal Acta stomatologica Croatica. He is married and father of three children. Ivana Savić Pavičin, DMD, PhD

Ivana Savić Pavičin is senior teaching assistant in the Department of Dental Anthropology, Schol of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb. She was born on July 11, 1980. in Zadar, Croatia. Graduated at the University of Zagreb, School of Dental Medicine in 2004. As a student she won two Dean’s awards for the most successful students. Since 2004. employed as a research scientists on scientific projects „Bone in dental research“ (2004.-2007.) and „Research of bone tissue in orofacial system“ (2007.- 2014. ), with pricipal investigator Jadranka Keros. During 2009. and 2010. participated in project „Croatian Dental Terminology – HRSTON“ with principle investigator Marin Vodanović. In 2013. had her PhD thesis „ Correlation of osteoporosis and the condition of tooth supportive tissues“. Works as teaching assistant in the Department of Dental Anthropology , School of Dental Medicine, in Dental morphology and anthropology (2004.-), Forensic dentistry (2013.- ) and Introduction to Dental Medicine (2013.- ). She is of specialist of Dental pathology and endodontics since 2011. In 2013. she completed International Course in Forensic Odontology – Personal Identification by Dental Methods, in Reykjavik, Iceland. Her main scientific fields of interests are bone biology and pathology (specialy osteoporosis and it relationship to oral bone structures), dental anthropology, dental stem cells, forensic dentistry and endodontics. She is reviewer for the scientific journals Acta Stomatologica Croatica and Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. She is a member of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR), International Association for Paleodontology (IAPO), Croatian Endodontic Society (HED) and Croatian Dental Chamber. Assistant professor Marin Vodanović, DMD, MSc, PhD

Marin Vodanovic, born 1975 in Germany studied dental medicine at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb and received his dental degree in 1999. In 2005 he obtained his Master of Science degree, and 2008 his PhD degree. He specialized in endodontics and dental pathology in 2010. In 2014 he became Head of the Department of dental anthropology and in 2015 Vice Dean at School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb.
His main areas of research expertise are in paleodontology, forensic dentistry, dental anthropology endodontics, occupational diseases and dental terminology. He served as project leader and researcher at several projects. In 2012 he was at the Smithsonian Institution, Washington DC, USA performing an investigation of tooth wear. He is author or coauthor of more than 150 publications including several books, textbooks, dictionaries and book chapters.
He is editor in chief of the Bulletin of the International Association for Paleodontology and member of editorial boards of Acta Stomatologica Croatica – online, Stomatološki vjesnik BiH, and Croatian Dental Herald (2006 – 2008). In 2015 he served as a guest editor in Annals of anatomy.
In 2014 he was the president of the Organizing board of 16th International Symposium on Dental Morphology and 1st Congress of the International Association for Paleodontology. He is a founder and president of the International Association for Paleodontology, secretary of the Croatian Association of Forensic Stomatologists and member of many national and international organizations like International Association for Dental Research, European Society of Endodontology, etc.
He served as reviewer for many journals including: American Journal of Physical Anthropology, PLOS ONE, Archives of Oral Biology, Journal of Archaeological Science, International Journal of Osteoarchaeology, Journal of Dental Education, Journal of Forensic Dental Sciences etc.
In 2006 he was awarded with Republic of Croatia National Science Award.
